Hey guys new to this site.

Recently bought a 2002 Celica Gts for $2800 with 146,000 miles. The owner already told me it had with a cel code p1693. I did some research before i bought the car thinking it would be an easy fix with the common issues being worn Lift Bolts and a dirty VVTL Ocv filter.

Today i recently changed the Lift Bolts with new ones part#90105-06293 luckily the old ones weren't striped but they were getting to the point of searing off. I also took out the VVTL filter near the battery side and it wasn't clogged or dirty but i decided to put a new filter in any ways with part#15678-32010.

i didnt check filter on the alternator side as it was getting dark and i dont really want to mess with removing it if i dont have too. Ive also read that the issue on that side shouldn't cause the P1693 code to pop up

i then cleared the Cel code with my obd2 scanner and let my car warm up and then drove around, i tried to engage lift and immediately the check engine light popped up with same code P1693

At this point after changing the Ocv Filter and changing the lift bolts im at a loss.

idk whats wrong with my car or how to solve it, can anyone please help or give suggestion? Thank You in Advance

Yep. Off brands electronic parts dont last long. DENSO ignition coils would be good after 250K miles , while the Chinese off brands including Bosch-China would die after about 10-15K. have a Delphi coil in it, still working after 15K.

You can buy all DENSO parts direct from DENSO.COM/PARTS, about 1/3 dealers' prices and about 1/2 part stores.
