I saw this in the description of the "Premium" audio system that's standard in the GTS.

With 8 Speakers Sound System

... 8 speakers? I know there's components in the doors (4 speakers) but are there also components in the rear panels? I haven't replaced those yet, so I don't know.

I believe toyota considers the Tweeters as part of the 8 speaker setup.

I'm not sure where they get 8 speakers from...I only count six, unless the front door speakers also have tweeters on them...but the stock system in the 03-04 is nice

i think they count it as the 2 tweeters then the 2 in the doors have a mid and low speaker (two way so they count as 2x2) then the 2 in the back

Actually I've had all the audio in my car replaced except the rear sides.

The doors in the stock GT and GTS have 2 tweeters (the little speakers on the top of the door) and 2 6 1/2 speakers at the bottom of the door.

That's 4 speakers so far.

Now the rear sides MUST have 2 tweeters and 2 6 1/2's just like the doors to add up to 8

I think maybe in the GT doesn't have 2 tweeters in the rear sides... but that's just a guess

the front has 2 tweeters, 2 bass and 2 mids hooked onto the basses, and 2 speakers in the rear.

yup i agree the stock system kicks ass!!

but it's nothing compared to a set of JL XR650-CSi's running off a JL 300/2
