I've always liked the look of the antenna mounted on the roof. Looks much sleaker. Reception was okay, am reception was non existent. To boost reception, I added an additional antenna mounted on the inside of the windshield, just behind the rear view mirror, not even noticable really. Reception is excellent now . BTW, got my windows tinted 15% as well God I Love digital cammeras .
I listen to a lot of sports radio on am, thus the reason I went for the additional antenna. Yes, the roof one is functional. Not one of those fake stick on ones.
