my friend owns a celica gt but he did the rear disk brake conversion, but he left his car debadged and didnt put a GTS emblem on it...it looks like a gts but you can tell its a gt once you pop the hood or look at the gauges..btw my gts didnt come with the 16 in alloys...the 16 in was an option that i didnt opt for...anyways dont do it, just debadge and go for the clean look

It pisses celica owners off because your posing as something it isnt. I know its your car, you asked for OUR advice on it. We are telling you what we think. It's just stupid saying you have something you dont have. Theres a celica around here that I can tell a mile away its a GT. Yet, its marked as a GTS and it pisses me off. Represent what you have, not what you dont have. If you really are too ashamed at having a GT, then just debadge it. That way, your not offending other celica owners, and your still enigmatic on what you have.

GT owners are proud they have a GT. Yes, some GT owners are screwed around with because they are the 'slower' conterpart (but by no means a slow car) to the GTS. But do you see anyone on here putting a GTS badge on here? No. Why is this? Because they have pride in their Celica GT.

It pisses people here off because the mass majority of us drive celicas, and you are defacing the very name of them everywhere by doing this.
Seriously dude, not to be a dick or anything but if you were to say (theoretically)that you go to an ecelica meet or any meet, you'd probably be; 1.) Ignored 2.) Ridiculed to your very face 3.)The top negative subject of the evening. Not trying ot be an ass, but its true.
Don't expect to make very many Celica friends, or have them for very long. wave

I debadged my car, but it wasn't because I'm ashamed at all. I'm very proud to own a Celica GT. My last two cars were a '91 Volkswagen Fox (81 hp) and then a '90 Mercury Sable (something like 160 hp but as heavy as a semitruck) You own a car that is very respectable don't give everyone else that mods their cars a bad name by ricing it out. peace thumbsup

You people give me a headache with that crap. I've raced an auto GT and won by quite a bit... not multiple car lengths, but quite a bit. I've also DRIVEN a 5-speed GT, and I think that the GTS auto would hang from a roll.

It's slow in the 1/4, I get that... but it's not a friggin OZ Rally Lancer. rolleyes

ohboy Yes well maybe YOU did, but as it has been said "anything can happen on the street," and just because a car "feels" a certain way that doesn't necessarily reflect what it can/can't do. My car may "feel" fast but it sure as hell isn't. From what I've heard mostly the gearing (not to sure though!!!), and of course the infamous "torque" of the GT, the auto GT should come out ahead...(imho)

From a roll, however I agree with you. After the 1-2 shift I don't see much of a reason why the auto GTS wouldn't be able to keep up.

...and do note my original post said "from a stop."

thanks for the pic, but take a look at this auction

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayIS...;category=15288 [cgi.ebay.com]

its for a celica GT, scroll all the way to the buttom and look at the front wheel. It looks exactly the same, including the rims and the break thing. Am I seeing something wrong here?

cry spineyes What about the front wheel confused The GT HAS disc brakes in the front and not the back!
GTS has disc brakes in front AND back!

Therefore if I look at your car and see no disc brakes in the rear, and a GTS emblem, I am going to notice, and call BS! (theoretically speaking)

Bobjoe.. you arent going to win this one. We all got OUR CELICAS for what we wanted in them, even if we couldnt afford top of the line, we still love them for everything they are and arent going to POSE them as something they arent. If you really wanna swich badges, then go ahead.. but you'll look like an idiot in the end. Bottom line. thumbsdown

5280vvti, I know what you mean about a cars "feel" not meaning much in determining speed. However, there is a kid I bowl with who has an auto GT. I raced him from a stop and won... and it's not like there is much room for variation with an auto. It isn't like a different driver could have shifted different or something spineyes

The "feel" comment was concerning the GT 5-speed, which I have never raced but have driven. Perhaps I'm totally wrong... but I'm not arguing that point too strongly. I'm just offended when people tell me that the GT auto is faster, when I've clearly proven it's not. wave

dude, dont do that. you may look "cool" to people that dont have celicas, but, for the other celica owners out there, they will be able to tell. and they well be disgusted.

While you are slapping on a GTS embl. in the back, you might as well pop on some spinners and be ghetto fab.

I know people can be pretty stupid but this person seems a lil diff. than the rest. We are pointing out all the obvious differences and he/she seems to still "test" everyone stating "i still don't see the differences" spineyes spineyes spineyes spineyes spineyes spineyes spineyes spineyes spineyes spineyes spineyes spineyes spineyes

To the orig. poster, if you want to "convert" LMAO your GT to a GTS go for it...

Another celica bites the dust.

Rev, I in know way intended to offend/bash auto GTS owners, or their cars in anyway. I am going off of what I have heard, and what I believe to be true, but I am more than open to accept otherwise if I could see more consistent proof.

btw. Were you shifting manually? Was he? Just wondering wave

Hey, no biggie. Not that many people here race their auto GTS's... and even fewer people race their auto GT's... I'm interested myself to know the results if anyone else has raced the two together.

Anywho, in my race I was shifting manually on the wheel. I don't know what the GT driver was doing. Their cars don't have the sport shift, but he could have walked it through the gears with the shift lever.

this guy is trying to convince us instead of us convincing him.
im gonna tell you wut i think: 3 pages of posts saying FUCK NO must mean something. all the celica owners here are saying no and ur trying to convince them. you are an official ricer! you dont worth driving a celica if you dont know the difference between a gt and a gts. sell ur celica asap and get urself a fucken honda civic and change the emblems to ferrari modena and put a huge spoiler on it. if celica owners here are saying no, imagine wut ppl on the street are gonan do to u. why the fuck you wanna look like a gts? you know wuts the diference? its only performace difference, and you dont have that. and if you dont then how r you gonna prove it? the point is that you have a celica, and you care for the looks. 1/100 gts have gt rims, so everyone is gonna think twice when seeing ur car. if you wanna do something at least put vvt-i badge because not a lot of ppl will understand but ull be right on it, and it looks cool. instead of wasting money on the gts emblem, save urself money for a nice body kit or something. if one more post you try to convince us of how gt and gts look the same, i hope the mods will kick you out of here and you lose ur celica somehow. i hope i dont see you on the streets rofl

you know what the difference between a gt and a gts is?? Owning a GTS means you have $$$ and we all know how much girls love guys with money. I already said I don't care about Performance, I don't race and the GT engine is more than fast enough for practical purposes.

If you need an extra "S" on the back of your car to pick up girls, you are ONE SAD MOFO.

Anyway, even girls will laugh at you. You didn't know what disc brakes were?!?! My MOM knows what disc brakes are.

Get a life. I'm 99.99% sure that you are just pulling our leg and doing this as a joke, because NOBODY could be this dumb.

Isaac, Tony... SOMEONE! Close this thread asap... cause this moron is just getting kicks out of annoying us.
