when i drive normally you cant tell if there is anything wrong when i shift from 1st to 2nd gear. it is only when i shift in the higher rpms. for example when i redline it is not as smooth of a shift as if somthing may be grinding. or it could be in my head i dont know. please help. i have 27000 miles on my car and wonder if i should go to the dealership and have them check it out before my warrenty ends.
Have your local Toyota service dept to take a look at it. You might want to tell them to adjust your clutch springs? so that the 1-2 shift isn't so nasty.
I have the same problem when shifting into 2nd only at hgih rpm's i dunno if i have the clutch pinned sometimes i do it some tiems i dont but im fairly new to stick but maybe it is just me, usually when i try to chirp 2nd it will do that
Don't tell them you were racing. Tell them that you were just getting on the freeway and had to pick up speed quickly and noticed that the 1-2 shift is nasty.
I was having problems shifting down from 5 to 4, id grind all the time. I took it to the dealer and they gave me a new transmission . It takes the dealership about 4 hours to do something like that. I got my car back the same day
I've had my 02 GTs for about 4 mounths, my buddy has a GSR intergra...He was ragging me because my celi wont hardly chirp second gear...I can drive to, I'm not shifting like a grandma. Is this due to a weak OE clutch or what?
its quite hard to chirp in a GTS... i have a 2000 gts.. the only way i chirp is when i powershift..keep my rpm above the lift when i shift... bad for clutch tho..
i know that ive done that before sometimes it gets gritty. naw it was another problem the dealer diagnosed a worn second gear wining bearings and worn second gear syncro. oh yeah i got my car back. feels pretty good after not having it for 10 days. but yeah i got a brand new tranny. thanks for all your guys input
Yea guys took my celica to the dealer they called me firday said they were puting a new trans in it ocer the weekend, so i should get it back monday. the guys said toyota covers it over warrenty, did any of you guys have to pay or was it all warrenty??
