Drive past the speedometer thing on the streets where it tells you how fast you are going.

Just dont go like 60 doing it so you start off driving without the needle, and then when you were side by side with your dad he told you the speed he was going and you stuck the needle back on to that speed?

exactly. there is a nice striat road near us, had him drive on the left lane so if there was a car he coudl go over and i woudlnt have to worry aabout it. We drove with wondows down and i told him before that we woudl pace on 30 so we both knew the speed. When we hit 30 he told me and i stuk on the needle. then we preceeded to go up by 10s to make sure it stayed consistant. Yea I took off the plastic covering (so you dont have to detach all teh stupid wireharnesses behind it.) Then put it back with like only that top screw holding int he bezel. Had the needle off and then went I suggest taking the needle off before starting the car, dont know if more damage could be done or not. Only problme i have now is, at aobut 5mph it says i;m at 0. i dont know what happened there but oh well

Here's what you do, so I've heard...
Plug in the dash with the needles off.
Turn the key to the "on" position but do not start the engine.
Wait about one minute, then put your needles back on.
At any rate, a 5 MPH difference isn't that bad, that's about what I'm getting.
BTW my friend has tried this on his car and he tells me it worked, so that must be worth something.
