Hello everyone, I’m new to this forum!

So I’ve had my 2004 Celica GT since June of 2017, and I have had little to no issues. The one thing that seems pretty minor but can get very annoying is the car will not shift automatically into 3rd gear right away. I live up north, so it can get below 30 degrees so that might be a factor but it also does it when it’s warm. I’ll speed up from zero at a reasonable, non-teenage angst acceleration speed (although I do enjoy doing that once in a while, we do have Celica’s), it will shift alright into second, but will remain at 3000 rpms for a little while when I’m only going 40mph. That’s not normal I don’t think. When I go 80mph it stays at 3000 rpms, so it shouldn’t get stuck on 3000 going 40. Eventually I’ll give the pedal a little push a few times or speed up a little more and it will go into 3rd. Anyone have an idea for why the car likes to stay stuck in 3rd gear for a little while?
