Celica Forums General Discussion Engine and Performance Changed TPS, it's worse!

Ok so after getting a CEL of p0120, I replaced the TPS. Took it for a test drive, almost didn't make it back to the shop. When I hit the accelerator, it acted as it were going to shut off, after 6-7 seconds it finally started moving. CEL light came back on, code p0120 and p0700 (manufacturer transmission) code. Please help! I don't know if I need to adjust the TPS, or the throttle cable (has about a 1/4" of play in it). I'm just lost. TIA

Ok, I tried adjusting the throttle cable, and it idles perfect until I put it into gear, which causes it to jerk pretty bad and the idle drops so much I'm afraid it will shut off.

If your stuff is aftermarket related and not OEM it will do what you state. I had aftermarket TPS sensor and IDACV. Always go OEM on Airflow stuff cause most aftermarket stuff is related to 1zz and not the 2zz though they state it is compatible which it isn't.
