Can someone with molding skills make custom Fiberglassed Door Inserts? adamj5 was making them but he backed out because he presently doesnt have enough spare time to work on them. He even asked for anyone with fabrication skills to step up to the plate and take a swing at this. Has anyone taken his challenge? Ive seen some of you guys with molding skill make some AWESOME custom projects. So Im sure that this shouldnt be hard to make. A lot of people were interested in both NC and EverythingCelica. Check it out|
Im more than sure that it will be no problem to make some profit from these. I really want these Fiberglass Door Panel Inserts because I messed up my leather inserts. Actually, I really need these because every time I look at door panel I feel like shooting myself for messing them up. Anyone that is planning to make these please let me know.
Come on guys i know one of you have to be able to do such a great thing adamj5 was on the mission but didn't have enough time and as you can see by the post on this link there is a high demand for them https://celicahobby.com/ubbthrea...part=1&vc=1 [/color]
Great! Im glad that you guys are willing to make these because I really need them. Someone should PM adamj5 he said he would help out in anyway possible. Please keep us updated.
i might be interrested in producing some... and i would be willing to do c/f too
That would be GREAT if we could get someone that is willing to do both because Ive seen many people interested in Carbon Fiber. However, I wouldnt mind seeing what you and celica2kgt could come up with.

You should start your own interest thread in the group buys forum and include the different prices for various interest, i.e. 1-5 people = $X, 6-10 people = $Y, and so on.
once he gets back to me i will but i will prolly need to take a trip down there to show them the door

You know you could definitely count on me. But are these goings to be made out of Fiberglass and then wrapped in Carbon Fiber? Because Im not sure if Im trying to go with the Carbon Fiber look for my interior.
The shop that I work for we make custom pieces like that Ill run it by my boss and see what he thinks. Do you want it in Carbon Fiber or Fiberglass or both? Let me know and Ill let him know tomorrow. We can pretty much make anything we also put on body kits and do some small Performance work and do all kinds of body work. Check us out at www.bkauto.net [bkauto.net]
What does everyone thing a resonable price is for a set of carbon fiber and un-painted Fiberglass? Gimme some answers quick cause Im telling my boss about this tomorrow morning.
adamj5 gave us a $40 - $60 price range for unpainted Fiberglass ones without shipping but not sure how much it would cost for a painted ones or in that case Carbon Fiber ones. Not sure about anyone else but I would be willing to pay a little more if the quality is GOOD. Also, would you be painting them for us? However, let us know what your boss says because I really need this ASAP.

If they were carbon fiber, I'd pay $100 or less (shipped), for the pair.
ok I talked to my boss today and he said we can do it but we need at least 10 people willing to put down at least a $50.00 dollar deposit on a pair. He said that they would run 300.00 for unpainted Fiberglass and 500.00 for finished carbon fiber(those prices are for a set and most likely shipped). The price is so high right now because the cost of materials and man hours is going to be high and we have to make a profit. He said it will take about 2 weeks to get a really good mold that we can make final products from. But if we get a lot of people willing to buy the price may come down some. Email me if interested at daveg357@yahoo.com

$300?? $500?? those things better be 24k gold!
No shit, that's ridiculous.. I can get a freakin' HOOD for that kinda money...
Thats exactly what I was thinking but $500 is way tooooo expensive. Where is carbon_blue_gt when you need him? Can anyone else make these for a more reasonable price?
He's right here... tell you what, i'll prototype a pair if i can get enough people to put deposits (like, $20 each) so that i can afford a pair from adamj5 to mold. I don't want to mold my doors, becuase i just got done dying them, and putting new inserts in them... and, i just don't want to redo all of that work (i hope you all understand). Let me know people!
Well what is a resonable price these are just numbers he threw at me without even looking at what were making someone give me a price limit you would pay for each kind of material and Ill talk to him again.
Im down for the $20 deposit but I dont think that adamj5 made any others to sell. However, we could all put in money to buy used door panels from a junkyard or from ebay.com. I found this on ebay, I wonder if this guy still has the door panels.
There are 2 members from New Celica Brian00GTS & LilRocketSpyder that are completely parting with everything because their Celicas have been totaled. I asked them both about the door panels, still waiting for reply.
i can do a generic blue, or any other color for that matter, but i won't be doing any color matching.
I will only do carbon fibre if i get a minimum of 5 people who want c/f, so that i can order the c/f all at once, and i would require nonrefundable deposits on carbon fibre inserts.
First though, we need to find a set of door panels that i can mold, without worrying about ruining my newly custom interior

you'll have no trouble at all getting 5 people for carbon fiber, I'm sure.
cause you can't from the inside of the door..i guess they would pry off somehow??
how would this Fiberglass one go on?
Actually, it is from the inside. I think 2 or 3 screws hold it in place if Im not mistaken.
They should fit directly over the existing fabric with a little "wiggling". Kinda like the Ecelica door inserts. They SHOULDNT need any glue or anything. Well this is how adamj5 was going to do his but I guess carbon_blue_gt could give us a better explanation on how he is going to make his.
they will fit directly over the stock fabric (or leather). Basically, the groove around the "insert" is just cast into the door panel, it's not a seperate piece. The new Fiberglass insert will fit into the groove tightly, hopefully without the need for any kind of adhesive.

it's not, we took my door off and the panel had nothing behind it to take out the leather piece i have...we did this when we were going to dye it...instead, he had to tape it off...

The leather inserts are attached by some sort of Adhesive. There is no way to remove them unless you peal them off.
However, your question was How do you get the door panels off? not How do you detach the leather inserts from the door panels?
I'd definately be down for some Carbon Fiber Door panels, count me in if you get them, I'd pay $200 for a pair of Carbon Fiber doors :drools: but if I have to settle for fiber i'd want to color match them so you'd have to send them primed
Awesome, Paul, I'm looking forward to this, as well
A lot of people have been waiting for this mod for some time now. I believe this is going to be a successful project that will really stand out in our interiors.
I can't wait for this mod, I will definately have to order me a pair from you guys, ESPECIALLY if CarbonBlue decides to do some Carbon Fiber ones :drools:
OK, update... the door panels are on their way, and should be on my doorstep on friday the 23rd. I will begin working on the prototype for the insertsas soon as i recieve the door panels, and should have them ready to go into production a week or two afterward. There will be a carbon fibre version available, but not until after the Fiberglass ones are done.

relax. welcome to the site. get to know ppl. dont steal someones idea, work. be original and come up with something nice. maybe a bodykit, hoodscoop, and custom hood so we can fit our superchargers under the hood
News... the door panels will be here tomorrow, and I'll be building the prototypes tomorrow night and saturday, and should have photos up by the end of the day on sunday!
All of you who are interrested in the group buys.. post it up in the g/b forum!
Many people were interested but no one ever made them. The closest Ive seen them to production was at the KrazyKustomz.com website.
Here are some pictures from their website and the estimated release date is November 04 but I haven't heard of an exact release date. Also, Group Buys are welcomed. I would be willing to contact them if people are still interested.
